Sara Tomis

Sara is an honors student from the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources. She will be completing her Bachelors of Science with an individualized major in Agricultural Education and Outreach. Sara has made the Dean’s List a number of times, in addition to being named a UConn Babbidge Scholar. She has also received the Willard H. Allen Scholarship award for being in the top ten percent of her class in displaying leadership and integrity and extracurricular activities, and the New England Farm & Garden Association Scholarship for her commitment to her field of study through her co-curricular activities.

Outside of her many recognitions within the classroom, Sara also holds a number of positions in which she demonstrates her commitment and zeal. She holds three internships with UConn Extension; specifically as a Youth Outreach and Education Assistant for New London County 4-H, a Social Media Specialist for Healthy Homes, and lastly, a Written Communications Assistant for Sustainable Landscapes. Sara is a member of the New London County Agricultural Extension Council, Treasurer of UConn’s Block and Bridle Club and has served as the State Vice President of the Connecticut FFA Association.

After graduation, when she is not caring for her flock of Romney sheep, or spinning, dyeing, and knitting wool and fiber, Sara intends to pursue a master’s degree in Agricultural Education and Communication at the University of Florida. Her ultimate career aspiration is to serve as an educator in the Cooperative Extension System, using her knowledge of agricultural sciences to positively impact her community through public engagement.
