May is a member of the Pharmacy Honors Program and will be graduating with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and is described by Dr. Nathaniel Rickles, School of Pharmacy Associate Dean of Student Affairs, as being a “very outgoing, passionate, and driven student who does not shy away from taking on leadership challenges.” She has been recognized by numerous scholarships, as May demonstrates excellent leadership everywhere she goes. As Co-Chair of Pharmacy Student Ambassadors and Community Service Chair of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, as well as Treasurer and Fundraising Committee Member for the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy, May is known as a highly active peer tutor in the Student Education Assistance Program.
May’s involvement on campus is reflected in her participation in the Collegiate Health Service Corps, as a member of Rho Chi Society, a Recovery Ally trainer and a STEM Scholar Mentor.
Off campus, May has been a leader nationally with her role as a National Student and Resident Committee member for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and in Connecticut s a clinic board member for the West Hartford Fellowship Housing Clinic.
In addition to these commitments and many more, May makes time to leave her mark in pharmaceutical research. An author of nine professional publications, her work has been featured in “Pharmacy Times” and the peer reviewed journal “Biochemical Pharmacology”. Her PharmD Honors Thesis, “The Growth of Small Interference RNA-Based Therapeutics: From Failure to Frontrunner” is a narrative review of the mechanism, development, and clinical utility of siRNA therapeutics, exhibiting first-hand May’s expertise in her field of study.
In her down time, May enjoys baking, music, and reading.
For the future days, May is to pursue a PGY1 pharmacy residency at Mayo Clinic, soon followed by a PGY2 pharmacy residency in a clinical interest area. But for today, May would like to give thanks to her family for their love and support.
