Madison Lane

Madison is a student in the Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture graduating with an Associate of Applied Science in animal science. Even before being matriculated into UConn, Madison exhibited a commitment to leadership when she was selected as a delegate to the National FFA Convention for two consecutive years to represent Massachusetts and when she again represented Massachusetts at the National 4-H Horse Roundup in Louisville, Kentucky on three occasions. Sandra Bushmich, Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Director of the Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture, has said, these experiences enhanced Madison’s “skills in public speaking, compassion, responsibility, confidence and leadership.”

Within her academic and extracurricular activities, Madison has proven to be an excellent leader. She has collaborated with other students to develop and execute plans in livestock courses. Last fall, she effectively interested prospective students by sharing her own academic path and reasons for choosing her respective program at the Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture’s virtual open house. She has been active in the UConn Dairy Club and will be Vice President of the UConn Equestrian Team from 2021 to 2022. Her leadership skills have led her to be selected as an orientation leader for the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources and the School of Agriculture for the summer of 2021.

During her undergraduate career, Madison has been featured on the Dean’s List and honored with the Jarvis Products Corporation Scholarship and the Willard H. Allen Scholarship that is given to students who are within the upper tenth percentile of their class. After graduating, she will work towards a bachelor’s degree in animal science from UConn’s College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources and then apply to Veterinary School to become a large animal veterinarian.
