Monday, April 3rd – Friday April 14th

We are collaborating with the UConn Bookstore to raise money to assemble hospital bags for Rape victims. These bags will be donated to Student Health and Wellness (SHaW) and Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Eastern CT (SACCEC) to help support UConn students who seek out medical care following a sexual assault.

UConn offers sexual assault forensic exams to students either at the on-campus SHaW location or at Windham Hospital.  SHaW nurses are trained to provide medical care in addition to having trauma training.  SACCEC provides advocates to each student that will provide emotional support during the kits.  These advocates will be the ones who bring the bags for the survivors.

Wednesday, April 26th

Denim Day

This global event began in Italy following a Supreme Court ruling that discredited a rape since the victim was wearing tight jeans, which must have required help in removing. Wear denim in solidarity with survivors to show clothing doesn’t mean consent.

Tabling will also occur on April 24th at the SU mall from 10:00 am – 2:00pm where we will hand out denim ribbons.

We will also be hosting a victim blaming workshop on April 26th from 2:00 pm  – 4:00 pm at the Women’s Center SU 417to raise awareness about the harmful effects this has on survivors.
